Accomplished studio talent, fearless remixer, globetrotting dance floor illuminator. In short, to say that there are a few strings to the bow of British trailblazer Tim Mason would be the understatement of the century. Once a staple of the Size Records family, Tim Mason has returned with a reinvented sound and it’s bigger and better than ever. With his latest productions backed by the heavyweights such as Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, W&W, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Sander van Doorn and Gareth Emery, there’s no question Tim has brought in a new era of his career of monumental originals and spell-binding remixes.
Tim’s Size Records exploits including “The Moment”, “Anima”, and “Swoon” asserted the young Brit as an essential asset to one of dance music’s most relevant labels to date. Having remixed for a host of artists as diverse as Zedd, Moby, David Guetta, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Timbaland and James Arthur, it epitomises the unapologetic and universal nature of Tim’s ability to make dance music coherent to the popular market.
The new sound of Tim Mason began with his high-octane releases ‘Overdrive’ and ‘Nothing More’ on Zerothree early 2016. His true return to form came when he took one of the biggest essential progressive trance anthems of 2016, ‘Me Tonight’ by Jason Ross (feat. Lauren Ray), and reworking it into a progressive house masterpiece. Released on Anjunabeats, his remix paid great homage to the original whilst taking it in Tim’s own euphoric, pulsating direction. Tim delivered a remix so good Above & Beyond crowned it their Record of the Week on Group Therapy #197.
It didn’t stop there for Tim. The last few months of 2016 saw the peak-time powerhouse release a further 4 tracks including “Serum” – which soared into the Beatport Top 10; “The Light” which was released on Doorn records and garnered support from W&W, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Sander van Doorn himself; and “Chords of Life” which was quickly picked up as Armin van Buuren’s ‘Progressive Pick’ on ASOT792.
For all his studio exploits, the dance floor is still where the full brunt of Tim Mason is felt. Having played some of the most iconic festival and event brands around the world including Creamfields, SW4, Ministry of Sound, Amnesia and Gatecrasher, Tim’s ability to capture the attention of audiences far and wide signals the all-embracing charm of his hard-hitting DJ sets.
With hotly anticipated IDs still to be unleashed, new global territories to be dominated and yet more diverse artists to remodel, 2017 is looking no less intense for the globetrotting British artist. With many a moment still up his sleeve and the world truly tuned into his meteoric sound, the future promises explosive stamina from Brighton’s triumphant maestro.
